ABOUT ME

As a kid growing up in suburban Cleveland I had a fascination with fine art. It wasn't until High School that my interest in design sparked. I liked the idea of art having a function and going further than aesthetics framed on a wall. Being an athlete I related to well designed footwear. Not only do my shoes make me jump higher but they look badass as well. While fabrication seemed fascinating, I was more interested in colors, shapes and patterns. I bought leather paint and began using white Nikes as my canvas. What started as a hobby quickly evolved and eventually influenced what I wanted to do beyond high school.

Majoring in graphic design at Marietta (OH) gave me what many schools seemed to be lacking at the time; real world experience. I had the opportunity to work with copywriters and other designers to achieve a common goal. I worked with clients that had and didn’t have product photography, ones that were hard to get a hold of, and deadlines that seemed impossible. Graphic design was exceedingly overwhelming at times, and I began to love it.

After graduating I had one goal in mind: explore. I packed whatever I could fit into my mid-size sedan and drove 2,300 miles west to uncharted territory in southern California. With luck on my side, I promptly found a job at a family owned ad agency in Bakersfield (CA). As an employed graphic designer I was able to  fine tune my skills as well as pick up new skills (like web design) along the way. Three years later and I'm back home ready to take on new challenges that lay ahead. Check out how my work has progressed in my projects section.
